James Galvin
Light-based artist creating immersive works with color, space, photography, and technology.
James Galvin creates artworks that use light as both material and subject. Drawing on decades of experience with complex lighting systems for film and television, his practice explores perception, atmosphere, interactivity, and the emotional presence of light.
His work includes neon, LEDs, lasers, projection, programmed environments, and photography that explores light, color, reflection, and atmosphere. Through color, movement, reflection, and intensity, he creates spaces where viewers can slow down, explore, and experience light as something physical and alive.
Letting people interact with and control light-based artworks is central to his practice.
James is currently based in Sofia, Bulgaria, Europe, where he is developing new work for light festivals, exhibitions, and residencies.
